does anyone no any thing about vintage Mobile homes ?
i am interested in buying a old park stile trailer home, i would like to find one that was well build, i really only want to find as small of one as possible, one with a bed, bath room, and kitchen, i am pretty handy so i think i could do allot of the repairs myself, any info ? any good web sights ? i think these old trailer homes are pretty cool. thanks
Find one that was well built..... well, I can tell you the technology has changed in the industry a great deal, over the years. What may have been considered "well built" 20 years ago, even if in 'mint' condition, would be considered inferior today. There has been a great improvement in how they are built, their energy efficiency, and structural strength -- even the "cheap" mobile homes of today, are of better quality than the "expensive" mobile homes from 20 years ago (or longer).
A lot of older mobile home parks that own these older style mobiles, will give them away, if you agree to haul all of them away. I'd start there.... find out from your local mobile parks if someone is already doing that, and go to them. I know you can find old mobiles that are basically sound, for a thousand dollars or so. I know some who are in the business of pulling these old trailers out, invest some time and money in them, to turn around and sell them for a few thousand.
You might also check with your local mobile home dealerships, to see if they have any trade-ins available.
By the way -- the standard cost to move any mobile home (singlewide) is right about one thousand dollars. Those trucks are expensive, and you have to have permits and insurance.
